Prayers for Wetumpka, Alabama
Please be in prayer for the town of Wetumpka, Alabama which was struck by a tornado on Saturday, January 19. The First Presbyterian Church was one of the buildings that sustained major damage. We will have more information soon on ways that we can help.
Their pastor was quoted as saying:
“Everybody wanted to know where we were going to have church tomorrow,” he said. “I told them ‘What the hell is wrong with you?’ We’re not going to have church tomorrow. We’re going to be church tomorrow.”
A powerful idea, especially in the midst of their loss.

Welcome, New(ly married) Member!
New member Lynn (Rogers) Silvestri was baptized last year and joined our church on September 23rd. She and our recent bagpiper soloist, Robert Silvestri, were married on November 4 in our sanctuary by pastor Drew Travis. Growing up, Lynn was an Air Force “brat,” and was born in Anchorage, Alaska. She also lived in Germany and graduated from high school in Austin, Texas. She then graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a degree in political science. She worked for a nonprofit organization in Glen Rose for nine years before becoming the marketing director at The Courtyards, an assisted living facility in Granbury over a year and a half ago. What she loves about her new position is that she feels God is in that place as she is helping people find the right place to live in their later years. This sometimes involves helping the whole family while maintaining the dignity and decision making rights of the loved one needing assisted living care. She says she and Robert met one night at Christina’s in Granbury, and she knew immediately that he was the guy for her. She and Robert have recently enjoyed volunteering at one of the homes on the Candlelight Tour, as well as at the nativity display at Langdon Center. Lynn’s other interests besides volunteer work include travel. She and Robert are hoping to make a trip to Italy next year. Lynn also has a big heart for animals. She and Robert enjoy living in their recently remodeled house with their two rescued dogs, Elvis and Hank Williams, and Robert’s cat, Baby. We welcome Lynn as one of the newest members to our congregation!
