This week we ordained and installed our two new elders, Julie Dean and Derek Faulkner. Julie is the head of our worship committee and Derek is our property elder. Congrats and welcome!
In case you missed it, our new Associate Pastor is here! Welcome, Brenda! Just a reminder, please wear your name tags to help her as she gets to know us.
Brenda’s first career as a CPA spanned 30 years. Somewhere during that time, she felt God’s call to ministry so she entered seminary, became ordained, and the rest is history. She was happy to exchange the field of finance with the field of faith, but she can still create a mean Excel spreadsheet!
Yesterday, Jane Seley played a beautiful prelude, “Immanuel” by Michael Card. You can watch it here if you missed it, or if you loved it so much you want to hear it again.
Yesterday, Jane Seley played a beautiful prelude, “Immanuel” by Michael Card. You can watch it here if you missed it, or if you loved it so much you want to hear it again.
Here are the lyrics:
A sign shall be given
A virgin will conceive
A human baby bearing
Undiminished deity
The glory of the nations
A light for all to see
That hope for all who will embrace
His warm reality
Immanuel
Our God is with us
And if God is with us
Who could stand against us
Our God is with us
Immanuel
For all those who live in the shadow of death
A glorious light has dawned
For all those who stumble in the darkness
Behold your light has come
Immanuel
Our God is with us
And if God is with us
Who could stand against us
Our God is with us
Immanuel
So what will be your answer?
Will you hear the call?
Of Him who did not spare His son
But gave him for us all
On earth there is no power
There is no depth or height
That could ever separate us
From the love of God in Christ
Immanuel
Our God is with us
And if God is with us
Who could stand against us
Our God is with us
Immanuel
Immanuel
Our God is with us
And if God is with us
Who could stand against us
Our God is with us
Immanuel
Thank you to all who contributed to our Christmas gift bags for the Housing Authority!
We gave 22 gift bags for families and 83 gift bags for elderly and disabled folks.
This year we added 4 bags of snacks for the employees and 17 cat toys and 21 dog toys.
What a wonderful way for us to spread Christmas cheer in our neighborhood.
A big thank you to the Missions and Outreach Committee: Emily Graham who helped price and shop for gift items, Marijane Harvey who hand wrote 109 cards, and Saunya Bishop and Carol Boyd who filled and tied beautiful bows on each bag.
And thank you to Tim and Nancy and Thomas Bennett for delivering all 109 bags up to the community room at the housing authority.
This Sunday, we welcomed 9 new members into the faith family at First Presbyterian Church. They are Pat Luley, Arlona Herbel, Barbara Gee, Helen Furr, Ken & Allyce Peters, Richard & Debbie Sanders, Marla Hill.
We welcome you all to our congregation and look forward to continued fellowship with you.
For our second year, the Great Christmas Cookie Caper Too will feature Jingles, Nancy, and Waco the Weasel as they look for the animals who witnessed the birth of the little baby Jesus in the manger. But where IS the cow who gave up his hay, or the donkey who carried the mother? Where is the sheep who gave wool for his blanket, or the dove who sang him to sleep? They are nowhere to be found, but there are plenty of other surprises to be had. What is with all the HISSING going on? Who is this stranger who comes bearing unusual animals of every kind? You won’t want to miss this very special Christmas story brought to you by one of Granbury’s most beloved storytellers and her friends Waco and Lili Weasel, Larry the Crocodile and Jingles the Elf. They will be joined by our incredible guest Eric Brittingham, known and loved by thousands of children across the state as “Mr. B” of Wildlife on the Move. In addition, there will be live music, cookies and milk, and live animals that you can visit. There is NO CHARGE for this great show, but we do as that you RSVP so that we’ll have a cookie just for you!
