Sept 10 PW Meeting

It is with great joy and love for one another that we will gather Friday for our first regular Presbyterian Women meeting for what seems like decades. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. to hear Couch Surfers Ministry. This is a very special and much-needed mission to homeless men in Hood County and I know we are all looking forward to what they have to say.

It is precisely because we have this great love for one another that the PW board has decided by consensus that this event will be mask MANDATORY. The Delta variant is raging in Hood County, and last year proved that the weeks after Labor Day show a surge in cases. We need to be careful of one another and love each other as Christ loved us.

We will also not be eating together. Do not bring a salad or sandwich to share. It is our great hope that we can do that together soon.

Minutes and treasurer’s report will be available to you on paper. We will have a short discussion about future plans and especially what we are going to do about the garage sale which is less than one month away.

FUN Circle Meeting

Please join us at the FUN Circle meeting next Friday, September 25, at 10:00. We’ll be making Christmas cards for the troops, overseas, to send home (to family and friends). You’ll be able to use Christmas rubber stamps (and markers to add color), or you can copy some of Kay McMillan or Dennie Treat’s designs, or even come up with your own creations.

Please let Gloria Mitchell know if you can join us (817-909-0326 gwmitch@sbcglobal.net) and be sure to wear a mask. We’ll do social distancing, but we have to limit our number to 20.

PW Meeting 1/10/20

Last Friday at our PW meeting Nancy Burks Worcester spoke about our prison book ministry.

Upcoming PW events include packaging for CC’s Carry Ons on January 29, White Breakfast on February 26, and PW general meeting on March 13.

There was one male in attendance. He ate breakfast and listened enthusiastically to our speaker, mostly because she is his grandmother.

PW Meeting – Suicide Prevention

Our program covered the prevalence of suicide, the risks associated with higher rates of suicides and the warning signs of someone who might be suicidal.  The talk ended with some local information on the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) which provides emergency intervention in any suicidal situation in the 6 counties served by the Pecan Valley Centers.  The Crisis Services are available 24-hours a day, 365 days a year by calling 1-800-772-5987 and referrals can be made by the person himself, families, schools, businesses or law enforcement.
